| HANOI (Reuters) - A convicted Vietnamese robber who escaped from
prison 20 years ago chose a sly way to hide from the law -- inside the
police force and as a member of the ruling Communist Party. A
police newspaper reported Friday that Ngo Thanh Tam, 51, was
re-arrested Tuesday, two decades after joining the police under a false
identity in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong. The An
Ninh Thu Do (Capital Security) newspaper described Tam as a "dangerous
criminal" on the national wanted list. After his arrest he was purged
from the party, which he joined in June. It was unclear how Tam's real identity was discovered.
Tam was sentenced to four years in jail in 1984 for a series of
robberies, but he escaped from prison in 1986, the newspaper said. In
2003 Tam was promoted to police chief of Dak Ru commune. He had also been elected to the Dakru People's Council for the 2004-2009 tenure.
Personally I would have let him go.

| So in recent news, Andrea Yates was found to be innocent by way of insanity. Five years ago, however, she had been convicted of multiple murders and sentenced to life in prison. Surprisingly, this ruling was overturrned in appeals because "erroneous testimony about a "Law & Order" television episode that didn't exist could have influenced the jury." Here is where I step back and go "wtf?" Now if a jury were influenced by a nonexistent episode of a TELEVISION show that jury needs to be convicted of plain stupidity by way of retardation in their family.
Also, Andrea was diagnosed with severe postpartum psychosis. First off, a person with that severe of postpartum PSYCHOSIS (not depression mind you) should NOT be allowed to have any more kids, as she was advised by many psychiatrists. Oh and she also believed Satan was inside her and she was also found to be delusional.
Here is where I read the article again. Satan inside her? Let me backtrack. According to this article (by the way it's on www.cnn.com if you would like to navigate your friendly web browser in that direction), she took part in an interview from prison with the psychiatrist Lucy Puryear "that she killed them because "in their innocence, they would go to heaven."" Now, she was earlier diagnosed as being psychotic and not capable of knowing right from wrong. I'm no psychology major, but a psychotic who believes the devil is inside her does not have a rational thought such as "in their innocence, they would go to heaven." That's a completely logical thought process. The way the defense presented her case however, it'd seem she was completely incapable of making such decisions.
Another thing that really irks me is what her husband had to say about this. He goes on to say "the jury had reached the right conclusion." No way freakin way man. My wife kills all my children I'm fighting to have her put away. Sure, it's a bit psychotic, but she murdered human beings. And being the father of those children, he should have been pissed off. He needs to be convicted of being an idiot by way of being beat as a child repeatedly.
However, the cnn.com article brings up an excellent point. I will directly quote this passage.
"Welner said that although Yates may have been psychotic on the day
of the murders, it wasn't until the next day in jail that she talked
about Satan, wanting to be executed and saving her kids from hell. He
said the hallucination may have been triggered by the stresses of being
naked in a cell on suicide watch and realizing what she had done.Welner
said Yates knew her actions were wrong and showed it in multiple ways:
waiting until her husband left for work to kill them, covering the
bodies with a sheet and calling 911 soon after the crime. Prosecutors also brought back a key witness from the first trial,
Dr. Park Dietz, the forensic psychiatrist whose testimony led to her
conviction being overturned. The judge barred attorneys in this trial
from mentioning the earlier testimony problem. Dietz again testified that Yates knew killing her children was wrong because she knew it was a sin." So yeah, interesting. Looks like the jury really was made up of a bunch of stupid idiots. They should all be convicted and be sentenced to be introduced to my pimp hand. And I'm pimp hand strong.
